Press Officer

The British Academy – the UK’s national academy for the humanities and social sciences – is seeking a Press Officer to raise the profile of the British Academy and the value of the humanities and social science, establishing the Academy as a go-to place for independent insight and evidence.

The role offers the chance to make serious impact in the national media, build relationships with senior journalists and work with fascinating content. You’ll be working with some of the brightest minds in the country to secure media coverage for our policy work, research findings and big-name events.

The role holder will be a key part of the press office, responding to news agenda to position the Academy as the voice of the humanities and social sciences, whilst proactively identifying opportunities to champion the subjects and the expertise of the Fellows of the British Academy.

The successful candidate will be an excellent and persuasive communicator, both verbally and in writing. They will be systematic and strategic in their approach, with the ability to grasp complex topics quickly and be proactive in identifying and responding to opportunities.
