Job Details
A great opportunity has arisen for a Temporary Senior Press Officer for a leading cancer related charity in order to work as part of the PR and Celebrity team to raise the charity s profile and manage its positioning through proactive and reactive media relations and celebrity engagement. This will be a temporary role for approximately 3 months.
Key Responsibilities will include:
To work as part of the wider team on the PR activity for one of charity s flagship fundraising events,
To work as part of the wider team on PR activity for corporate partner activity for the organisation
To support the team with case study recruitment and feature placement
To work across any other press office duties, deemed appropriate by your line manager
In order to apply you should have the following skills and experience:
Experience in a press office, PR agency or news environment
Proven PR and media relations experience in a fast-moving environment with the energy and drive to maximize every proactive and reactive opportunity
Demonstrable experience of developing and delivering successful integrated media relations plans that support fundraising or consumer projects
An excellent working knowledge of the UK s national, consumer and trade media and a proven track record in securing publicity within them with strong media contacts
Demonstrable experience of managing work in pressurised situations; prioritising workload and multi-tasking without sacrificing quality of work.
Ideally we would like you to have the following experience:
Consumer PR experience and strong, existing journalist contacts across print, broadcast and online
Experience of working with celebrities and influencers
Experience of working within the charity sector
We would like you to:
Have an excellent working knowledge of the UK s national, consumer, social and trade media and a proven track record in securing publicity within them with strong media contacts
Have outstanding written and verbal communications skills in particular, the ability to produce strong and engaging press materials
Have a strong sense of what is newsworthy and a creative approach to bringing stories to life
Have a clear understanding of the importance, synergy and opportunity available between traditional media channels and digital channels
Have excellent attention to detail, be adaptable and resourceful
Have strong organisational and administrative skills, including experience of working with press office administration systems such as media monitoring and evaluation
Be computer literate (Microsoft Office etc)
